Michelle Burget Miller: 1968 – 2009

miller-michelle.jpgMichelle Burget Miller, 40, a resident of Huntertown, died at 12:57 p. m. on Sunday, March 1, 2009, at the Indiana University Hospital in Indianapolis.

Michelle was born on October 28, 1968 in Columbia City, a daughter of Delbert F. and Troas E. (Sinnigen) Burget, and spent her formative years in the Arcola area.  She graduated from Carroll High School in 1987, and had also been a student at Indiana Tech in Fort Wayne.

Her marriage took place in Jacksonville, North Carolina on May 13, 1987 to Matthew L. Miller.  The couple lived in Lake Township in Allen County for a period, and had lived in Huntertown for the past five years.

Previously, she had been employed at Culligan Water Conditioning in Fort Wayne, and for the past two years worked as a consultant for The Lincoln Life Insurance Company in Fort Wayne.

The surviving relatives include her husband Matthew; her sons Andrew James Miller, Ryan Michael Miller, and Kyle Anthony Miller, all of Huntertown; her mother Troas Burget of Huntertown; a sister Treasa (Wayne) Linnemeier of Fort Wayne; her in-laws Dick and Ruth Millikan of Churubusco; and a grandson Carter Lane Miller.

She was preceded in death by her father Delbert F. Burget; and by a brother Delbert Burget.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a. m. Friday, March 6, 2009, at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco with Rev. Corinne K. Boruff, pastor of Churubusco United Methodist Church, officiating.

The family will receive friends at the mortuary on Thursday from 2 to 8 p. m., or one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be in the Riverview Cemetery, south of Churubusco.

Tom L. Fulk: 1937 – 2009

fulk-tom.jpgTom L. Fulk, 71, a resident of rural Churubusco, died at 4:00 p. m. on Sunday, March 1, 2009, at his residence north of Churubusco.  Although he had been in declining health, his death was unexpected.

Mr. Fulk was born in Green Township on October 28, 1937, a son of Jess L. and Clara A. (Boggs) Fulk.  He spent his formative years in Camden, Michigan before returning to this area with his parents as a teenager.   As an adult he lived in Collins for a period, and had lived at his present farm home in Smith Township since 1972.

On August 17, 1957 he was married at Ege to Mary A. Martin.  She preceded him in death on February 22, 1981.  He later was married in Churubusco to Marilyn J. Geiger on May 28, 1982.  She died on March 24, 2007.

Employed at American Hoist in Fort Wayne, for 24 years, he retired as a materials handler at C&A Tool & Engineering in Churubusco after 14 years. He was also engaged in farming.  In his leisure time he enjoyed working with livestock, going to the sale barn, and most especially enjoyed his children and grandchildren.

The surviving relatives include his children Vaughn (Tina) Fulk of Columbia City, Erin (Mike) Sneary of Avilla, Allison (Larry) Patton of Churubusco, Vincent Fulk of Angola, Amy (Lee) Tilbury of Avilla, Virgil (Jennifer) Fulk of Columbia City, and Christi (Perry) Coe of Churubusco; his step-children Max L. (Sandy) Herendeen and Teresa (Mike) Byrum, both of Columbia City, and Terry Herendeen and Mary Lou (Bill) Vaught, both of Churubusco; a brother Richard Fulk of Wolf Lake; two sisters Bonnie Resner of Speedwell, Tenn. and Elizabeth “Jill” Pegg of Fort Wayne; 23 grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and two step-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and two wives, he was preceded in death by an infant sister Mary Ellen Fulk.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a. m. Thursday, March 5, 2009, at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco with Pastor Rick Van Horn, the facilitator.  

The family will receive friends at the mortuary on Wednesday from 2 to 8 p. m.

Interment will be in the Ege Catholic Cemetery, Noble County.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the Churubusco High School Baseball Program.
