Ella L. Fick: 1907 – 2009

Fick, EllaElla Louise Fick, 102, a former resident of Lake Township, went to her Heavenly Home on Friday, December 4, 2009, at Kingston Care Center in Fort Wayne.  She had resided there for the past one and one-half years.

Mrs. Fick was born on June 5, 1907 in Lake Township in Allen County, a daughter of Henry and Minnie (Stahlhut) Thiele.  On February 9, 1929 she was married to Louis W. Fick, was a homemaker, and worked beside her husband on the family farm.

She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church–Lake Twp., where she sewed quilts for many years.

The surviving relatives include her daughter and loving caregiver Jean Bosserman of Fort Wayne; a son Richard Fick of Fort Wayne; ten grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband on February 19, 1976; by sons Willard Fick on January 5, 1960 and Delmar D. Fick on November 5, 2009; and by a sister Bertha Lennemeier.

Due to her home church renovation, funeral services will be held at 10 a. m. on Wednesday, December 9, 2009, at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, 2305 Goshen Road, with Pastor Ralph Easterhaus, officiating.

The family will receive friends at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco on Tuesday from 2-4 and from 6-8 p. m., or at the church one hour prior to the service Wednesday morning.

Interment will be in Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne.

Earl “Gene” Coppock II: 1978 – 2009

Earl “Gene” Coppock, 31, a resident of Merriam, died early Friday, December 4, 2009, from the results of a one vehicle accident on County Road 900 East, north of Churubusco.

Mr. Coppock was born in Marion on October 26, 1978, and graduated from Central Noble High School in 1997.  He worked as a mechanic.

The surviving relatives include his daughter Nancy Coppock of Albion; his mother and step-father Judy and Donnie Camron of Merriam; his father and step-mother Tony and Julie Coppock, Sr. of Warren; three brothers Don Cameron of Wabash, Tony Coppock II of Warren, and Mark Coppock of Markle; three sisters Mary “Jackie” Cameron of Fort Wayne, DonElla (Don) Hartman of Oxford, and Nicole Coppock of Warren; and his grandparents Mary Robillard of Marion, Margot Mullenix of Converse, and Ira and Joyce Wood of Warren.

Services for family and friends were held on Sunday, December 6, at the Cornerstone Wesleyan Church in Merriam.

Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco is in charge of the arrangements.

Memorial contributions should be directed to the family.
