Donna Jean Stanford: 1938 – 2010

Stanfod,Donna2_0001Donna Jean Stanford, 71, a resident of Fort Wayne and widow of Michael Patrick Stanford, passed away at 4:20 p. m. on Saturday, May 22, 2010 at the St. Anne Home in Fort Wayne following an extended illness.

Mrs. Stanford was born in Fort Wayne on November 7, 1938, a daughter of Orvel W.  and Viola B. (Drewery)  Puryear.  She was a lifelong resident of Fort Wayne, and graduated from Central Catholic High School.

She was married to Michael Patrick Stanford, who preceded her in death in 1997.  A homemaker, she was a member of the ladies auxiliaries of the Moose Lodge and American Legion Post 499.

The surviving relatives include her sons and daughters-in-law Patrick M. and Tonya Stanford of Churubusco and Michael P. and Sherri Stanford, Jr. of Fort Wayne; a brother and sister-in-law Louis and Christine Krock of LaOtto; a half-sister Gail; and six grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother Ronald Krock.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 p. m. on Tuesday, May 25, 2010, in the chapel at the St. Anne Home, 1900 Randallia Drive, Fort Wayne, with Father Jack Overmyer, the celebrant.

The family will receive friends at the chapel after 12 noon on Tuesday until the hour of the service.  Women of the Moose will conduct memorial services at 1:30 p. m. Tuesday in the chapel.

Interment will be in the Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne.

Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco is in charge of the arrangements.

Lee A. Brumbaugh: 1961 – 2010

Lee A. Brumbaugh, 49, a native of Arcola and a resident of Fort Wayne, passed away at 2:20 p. m. on Saturday, May 15, 2010 at the Canterbury Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Fort Wayne following an extended illness.

Mr. Brumbaugh was born in Arcola on January 31, 1961, a son of Arnold and Marjorie (Gross) Brumbaugh.  He graduated from Carroll High School, and was a lifelong resident of Allen County.  He was a member of the Arcola United Methodist Church.

The surviving relatives include his mother Marjorie L. Brumbaugh of Fort Wayne; a sister Arleen (Sam) Monk of Ellettsville; and three nieces.  He was preceded in death by his father.

Services will be held at 10:00 a. m. Saturday, May 22, at the Arcola United Methodist Church with Pastor Harold Klinker, officiating.

The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.

Private burial will be in the Christian Chapel Cemetery, Merriam.

Merle A. Paul: 1924 – 2010

Paul, Merle_0001Merle A. Paul, 86, a former resident of rural Churubusco near Ari and more recently of rural Roann, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday morning, May 6, 2010, at her home in Miami County.

Mrs. Paul was born on February 13, 1924 in Akron, a daughter of Granvil E. and Esther G. (Harris) Dawson, and was united in marriage in Woodburn on August 30, 1947 to Anthony P. “Tony” Paul.

The couple spent the early years of their marriage in Pulaski County, and moved from Crooked Lake to rural Allen County near Ari in 1987.   Mr. Paul preceded her in death on July 29, 2001.  Following his death, she moved to her home near Roann to be near her son there.

She had a lifelong love of children, and had worked at the former Allen County Children’s Home.  She also did child care in her home for many years, and later was employed in the clothing department at Wal Mart in Kendallville for four years.  In her leisure time she enjoyed her flower gardens, and most especially loved and cherished her family.

The surviving relatives include her three sons Larry D. (Linda) Paul of Mount Airy, Md., Terry (Kay) Paul of Roann, and Garry (Judy) Paul of Avilla; a sister Marjorie Leininger of Fort Wayne; seven grandchildren M. Vincent Paul, Nicholas Paul, Krista (Bryan) Woods, Kari (Tony) Geary, Chad (August) Paul, Brian (Audrey) Paul, and Jason (Amy) Paul; and seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers Calvin Dawson, Donald Dawson, and Max Dawson; and by two sisters Katie Williams and June Nelson.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a. m. on Tuesday, May 11, 2010, at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco with Pastor Alvin Beggs, officiating.

The family will receive friends at the mortuary from 4 to 8 p. m. on Monday, or one hour prior to the service Tuesday morning.

Entombment will be in the St. Paul Mausoleum at Covington Memorial Gardens in Fort Wayne.
