Virginia M. Pepple: 1917 – 2010

Pepple, Virginia_0001Virginia M. Pepple, 93, a resident of Avilla and widow of Huber Pepple, passed away at 6:04 a. m. on Tuesday, September 7, 2010, at Parkview Noble Hospital in Kendallville.  She had been in failing health for the past month, and had entered the hospital on Friday.

Mrs. Pepple was born on June 4, 1917 in Green Township in Noble County, a daughter of Martin and Anna (Bianski) Kostielney, and graduated from LaOtto High School.

On June 15, 1935 she was married in Avilla to Huber Pepple.  She lived most of her adult life in Swan Township near Ege, before moving to Avilla in 1991.  She had been a resident of the Provena Sacred Heart Home in Avilla since 2006.

She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ege; its Rosary Sodality; and the Provena Sacred Heart Ladies Auxiliary.

Mr. Pepple preceded her in death on December 22, 1988.

The surviving relatives include her daughter and son-in-law Rosalie and Floyd Curtland of Angola; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter Maralee Traxler in 1967; and by a granddaughter Joni Traxler in 1958.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a. m. Saturday, September 11, 2010, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ege, with Father Danney Pinto, the celebrant.

The family will receive friends at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco on Friday from 4 to 8 p. m.  The Rosary will be recited at the mortuary on Friday at 8 p. m.

Interment will be in the Ege Catholic Cemetery, Noble County.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the Provena Sacred Heart Home, 515 N. Main Street, Avilla, IN  46710; or for masses.

Thomas B. Parrish: 1951 – 2010

Parrish, Thomas_0001Thomas B. Parrish, 59, a resident of rural Fort Wayne in Eel River Township, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, September 6, 2010, at his residence.

Mr. Parrish was born in Fort Wayne on August 2, 1951, a son of Robert E. , Sr. and Sylvia M. (Shoopman) Parrish.  He spent his formative years in Eel River Township, and graduated from Carroll High School in 1970.

As a young man he worked for Sheller Globe in Grabill for 25 years, and had been employed as a industrial maintenance worker at C&A Tool and Engineering in Churubusco since 1998.  He enjoyed reading his Bible, spending time alone with the Lord, and working on his trucks.  He also greatly missed his beloved dog and companion “T. D.”

The surviving relatives include his mother Sylvia M. Shoopman of Churubusco; three brothers Robert E. (Kim) Parrish, Jr. and John M. (Patricia) Parrish, both of Avilla, and Scott G. (Jennifer) Parrish of rural Fort Wayne; and his nieces and nephews Kyle (Rita) Parrish and Ryan Parrish, both of Auburn, Alexandria Parrish of Avilla, and Payton Parrish and Paige Parrish, both of rural Fort Wayne.

He was preceded in death by his father on April 7, 1993.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a. m. on Friday, September 10, 2010, at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco with Rev. Larry Smith, pastor of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, officiating.

The family will receive friends at the mortuary on Thursday from 2 to 8 p. m.

Interment will be in the Eel River Cemetery, south of Churubusco.
