Clarence R. Worley Sr. 1955 – 2011

Clarence WorleyClarence Randel Worley, Sr., 55, a resident of Churubusco, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at 10:46 a.m. at his residence.

Mr. Worley was born on October 12, 1955 in Whitley City, Kentucky, a son of Garrett C. and Pearlie Ethel (Phillips) Worley. He spent his formative years between Whitley City and Yuba County, California before entering the U. S. Navy.

He had work at Preferred Technologies in Fort Wayne until 2003, and was a member of the Churubusco Veteran’s of Foreign Wars Turtle Post 3846.

On June 6, 1994 he was married to Jacqueline Ann Guisinger in Columbia City.  She survives.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his children Randy Worley, Jr. and Charlotte Worley both of Rockford, Ill.,  Joseph Worley of Columbia City, and Sarah Worley–Doan of Churubusco; two sisters Wanda (Ken) Jordan of  Sutter, CA and Glenna Worley of Yuba City, CA; two brothers Joe Bobby Worley of Marshes Siding, KY and Garry Sommers of Kingsport, TN; and four grandchildren Jordan Worley, Samantha Worley, Saige Doan, and Elias Doan.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Worley was preceded in death by two sisters Penny Haase and Betty Worley; and one brother Thurman Stephens.

Services for Mr. Worley will be held Saturday October 15, 2011 at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco from 1 – 3 p.m. with a military service at 3:00p.m.

Lynn T. Scott 1955 – 2011

Scott, LynnLynn T. Scott, 56, a resident of Fort Wayne, passed away at 4:07 a.m. on Friday, September 23, 2011, at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne. He had been seriously ill since May.

Mr. Scott was born July 20, 1955, a son of Charles C. and Wilma (McKenzie) Scott. He spent his life in the Fort Wayne area.

He had been working as a car man for CSX since 1973. In his leisure time he enjoyed fishing and watching drag racing. He was a member of the American Bass Anglers Association.

The surviving relatives include his two daughters Tina (Chad) Albertson of Harlan and Leslie Scott of Fort Wayne; a son Adam Scott of Fort Wayne; three sisters Donna (Chester) Golembiewski of Fort Wayne, Elizabeth (Dallas) Atkins of West Virginia, and Martha (David) Kuehner of Columbia City; and a brother Dale (Marty) Scott of Columbia City.

Mr. Scott was preceded in death by his parents.

There will be a private  family gathering at a later date.

Norma L. Wooldridge: 1928 – 2011

Wooldridge, 83, a former resident of rural Churubusco and more recently of Fort Wayne, passed away on Monday, September 19, 2011 at 2:09 p. m. at Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home in Fort Wayne.  She had been taken there on Sunday  from Canterbury Gardens Assisted Living, where she had resided for the past two years.

Mrs. Wooldridge was born on July 31, 1928 in Belington, West Virginia, a daughter of Steven and Rita (Myers) England, and moved to this area in her early 20’s.

She had worked at the 33 Aquarium north of Fort Wayne for over 30 years, and had been part-owner during a portion of that time.  Besides her work, in her leisure time she enjoyed sewing, gardening, and was an avid shopper.

On January 31, 1966 she was married to Elmer D. Wooldridge.  He preceded her in death on September 11, 2004.

The surviving relatives include her sons Philip (Angie) Carroll of Churubusco and David (Myra) Huff of Squires, Missouri; a step-son James (Margo) Wooldridge of Indianapolis; her sisters Louise Cross and Loverine Ware, both of Belington, West Virginia and Joan Winslow of Century, West Virginia; six grandchildren Josh Carroll, Danielle Carroll, Michelle (John) Lortie, Scott Huff, Kim (Kevin) Miller, and Brian (Stephanie) Huff;  two step-grandchildren Jason (Jennifer) Wooldridge and Jimmy Wooldridge, Jr; and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son Gary Huff.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p. m. on Thursday, September 22, 2011, in the chapel at Covington Memorial Gardens, 8404 Covington Road, Fort Wayne.  Rev. Rick Van Horn, pastor of Christ Community Church, will officiate and entombment will follow in the cemetery mausoleum.

The family will receive friends at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco on Thursday from 11 a. m. to 1:30 p. m.

Verona Harmeyer: 1921 – 2011

Harmeyer, Verona_0001Verona Harmeyer, 89, a long-time resident of Lake Township and widow of Fred Harmeyer, passed away at 12:04 p. m. on Saturday, September 17, 2011, at the Kingston Care Center in Fort Wayne.  She had been a patient there for over four years.

Mrs. Harmeyer was born in Fort Wayne on December 23, 1921, a daughter of Charles D. and Clara (Linnemeier) Schaefer, and was a lifelong resident of Lake Township.

During her adult life she was primarily a homemaker, and was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Churubusco.

On January 24, 1942 she was married in Fort Wayne to Fred Harmeyer.  Mr. Harmeyer preceded her in death on December 22, 1976.  She was also preceded in death by two sons Kenneth F. Harmeyer in 1976 and Richard Harmeyer in 2004; by a sister Eleanor Emenhiser; and by a brother Karl Schaefer.

The surviving relatives include her children Patricia A. Johnson of Fort Wayne and James (Colleen) Harmeyer of Douglas, Wyoming; her brother Robert F. Schaefer of Fort Wayne; eight grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

At the request of the family there will be no public funeral services or calling hours.  A private family graveside service will be held at the Eel River Cemetery, south of Churubusco.   Rev. Lane Burgland, pastor of Faith Lutheran Church, will officiate.   Interment will follow.

Jean E. Krom: 1934 – 2011

Krom, Jean_0001Jean E. Krom, 77, a former resident of Tri-Lakes and widow of Lewis E. Krom, passed away at 8:51 p. m. on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.  She had been taken to the hospital from the Englewood Health & Rehabilitation Center in Fort Wayne, where she had been a patient for the past five years.

Mrs. Krom was born on January 9, 1934 in Fort Wayne, a daughter of Fred and Frances (Nix) Alles, and spent her formative years there.  As an adult, she had lived in Florida for ten years, before returning to this area in 1978.

On November 20, 1980 she was married to Lewis E. Krom.  The couple spent their married lives at Round Lake, and she assisted her husband in the operation of Sweet Pea Septic Service for many years.

Mr. Krom preceded her in death on August 28, 1997.

She was a member of the Good News Baptist Church in Churubusco.

The surviving relatives include her twin brother Eugene “Pete” (Charlotte) Alles and another brother John Alles, both of Fort Wayne.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant son Scotty Reed; and by a brother Carl Alles.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a. m.  on Wednesday, September  14, 2011, at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco with Rev. Edward A. Thompson, pastor of Good News Baptist Church, officiating.

The family will receive friends at the mortuary from 5 to 7 p. m. on Tuesday.

Interment will be in the Christian Chapel Cemetery, Merriam.
