David L. Pippenger: 1940 – 2008
David L. Pippenger, age 68, a resident of Blue Lake near Churubusco, died early Sunday, August 24, 2008, in his residence following a lengthy illness. He was receiving care from Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home and his loving and attentive family
David was born May 15, 1940 in Noble County, a son of the late Ted and Carnie (Herron) Pippenger. As a young man he formed an avid interest in airplanes, and became a certified pilot. He went on to fly and own many airplanes, and was very skilled in his aviation endeavors. He also greatly enjoyed boating, NASCAR, and his beloved Canada.
He was the owner/operator of the Churubusco Lift Truck, Inc. from 1985 until retiring in 2003.
On October 10, 1970 he was united in marriage to his wife of 37 years, Betty Jane Schiek. They lived at Blue Lake for many years.
His survivors include his wife Betty; their children Randy (Sandra) Pippenger of Rome City, Les (Laurie) Hossinger of Fort Wayne, and Teresa (Richard) (Pippenger) Hyser of Roanoke; four brothers, Phillip (Norma) Pippenger, Jim (Carolyn) Pippenger, and Ted (Terri) Pippenger all of Churubusco, and Dan (Linda) Pippenger of Gibson, Fla; four sisters Esther Anderson and Dorcas (Tod) Pressler both of Churubusco, Ruth Pressler of Columbia City, and Naomi (Paul) Coats of Fort Wayne; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by a brother Paul Pippenger.
There will be no calling hours or services. Sheets and Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco is entrusted with the arrangements.

Ive thought about all of you so much over the last few months. I will never forget Dave OR his Grandma’s lemonade:) Sending prayers your way to help ease the pain, grief is sooo painful.

Betty and Family,
I am saddened by the news of Dave’s passing. He was a great man and a very caring person. I feel so blessed to have shared a short bit of my life with him.
You all are so blessed to have had him in your lives. I know he is in the arms of God right now with no pain or sorrow. He will be with all of you always in your hearts….and mine too.

Betty and family my deepest sympathy for your loss. I will always cherish the moments when working for Dave at Churubusco lift truck, he taught me a great deal about the mechanical field. He was a Dear friend and will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
