			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Buna C. Head, 97, a resident of Blue Lake near Churubusco, passed away at 12:21 p. m. on Thursday, May 17, 2012, at Parkview Oaks in Columbia City, where she had been a patient for over seven years.</p>
<p>Mrs. Head was born on July 28, 1914 in Jefferson Township in Huntington County, a daughter of Arthur C. and Mary Ann (Shidler) Myers, and spent her formative years in Huntington County.  On June 21, 1953 she was married to Harry W. Head, and had lived at Blue Lake since that time<br />
.<br />
Employed as a cook for 18 years at the former Green Grill in Churubusco, she had also owned and operated Rapp&#8217;s Camp Ground at Blue Lake for many years.</p>
<p>Mr. Head preceded her in death on November 18, 1974.</p>
<p>The surviving relatives include her daughters Nancy Murphree of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Marilyn &#8220;Susie&#8221; (Raymond) Koker of San Antonio, Texas; nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.</p>
<p>In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons Lewis Davis and John Davis; three sisters; four brothers; a granddaughter Diana Lynn Davis; and two great-grandchildren.</p>
<p><em>Funeral services will be held at 1 p. m. on Monday, May 21, 2012, at the Sheets &amp; Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco with Rev. Rick Van Horn, pastor of Christ Community Church, officiating.</em></p>
<p><em>The family will receive friends at the funeral home after 11 a. m. on Monday until the time of the service.</em></p>
<p><em>Interment will be in the Eel River Cemetery, south of Churubusco.</em></p>

McCormick, 91, a resident of Churubusco and formerly of rural Avilla, passed away at 4:05 a. m. Monday, May 14, 2012, in the emergency room at Parkview Whitley Hospital in Columbia City shortly after admission.  Although she had been in failing health, her death was unexpected.</p>
<p>Mrs. McCormick was a native of West Virginia and was born May 1, 1921, a daughter of James Emitt and Mabel (Sloan) Smith.  On November 27, 1939 she was married to Clarence G. McCormick, Sr.  The couple lived in West Virginia for a period before moving to Fort Wayne in 1962.  In 1972 they moved to Noble County near Avilla where they spent much of their adult lives. She had moved into Churubusco in 2008.</p>
<p>Mr. McCormick preceded her in death on April 8, 1997.</p>
<p>The surviving relatives include two sons Clarence (Charlotte) McCormick, Jr. of Avilla and Jerry (Janette) McCormick of Churubusco; seven daughters Eva Jean (Emery) Burgess of Columbia City, Gloria Foust of Roanoke, Carol Sue (Jerry) Gibson of Columbia City, Judy Stopher and Linda McCormick, both of Fort Wayne, Pansy (Stanley) McCoy of Churubusco, and Alice Fae (Tom) Jennings of Mount Pleasant, Tenn; and a brother Estel Smith of Oak Hill, West Virg.  There are 21 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.</p>
<p>In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son Jimmy B. McCormick on May 24, 1993; by seven brothers; and a grandson.</p>
<p><em>Funeral services will be held at 1 p. m. on Friday, May 18, 2012, at the Sheets &amp; Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco with Rev. Paul D. White, pastor of Churubusco Church of the Nazarene, officiating.</em></p>
<p><em>The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 5 to 8 p. m., or one hour prior to the service Friday afternoon.</p>
<p>Entombment will be in the mausoleum at Covington Memorial Gardens in Fort Wayne.</p>
<p>In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be directed to Jodie Coil for Ashlynn Coil (Retts Syndrome).</p>

Cox, 99, a resident of Lake Township in Allen County and widow of Lawrence V. Cox, passed away at 11:00 a. m. on Sunday, May 13, 2012, at the Hamilton House in Fort Wayne where she had resided for the past two years.</p>
<p>Mrs. Cox was born on November 5, 1912 in Kosciusko County, a daughter of Amiel N. and Lula Mae (Nichols) Green.  She spent her formative years in Eel River Township, and graduated from Huntertown High School in 1931.</p>
<p>On September 1, 1931 she was married to Lawrence V. Cox, and had moved to her home in Lake Township in 1943 from Cromwell.  She had been employed as a nurses aid at the Parnell Park Nursing Home in Fort Wayne for several years, and had also worked at Delta Stockyards in Fort Wayne.  Active in the Allen County Farm Bureau, she served as a 4-H leader for 25 years, and had served on the election board in Arcola.</p>
<p>She was a member of the Lake Chapel United Methodist Church, and the Friendship Home Economics Club.</p>
<p>Mr. Cox preceded her in death on October 4, 1985.</p>
<p>The surviving relatives include her daughters Marlene (Ken) Kurtz and Donna (David) Middleton, both of rural Fort Wayne; seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.</p>
<p>In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister Florence Blessing; brothers Charles Green, Chester Green, and Howard &#8220;Jim&#8221; Green; and a great-granddaughter Miranda Rose Kurtz.</p>
<p><em>Funeral services will be held at 11 a. m. on Thursday, May 17, 2012, at the Sheets &amp; Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco with Rev. Marilyn Dunten, pastor of Lake Chapel United Methodist Church, officiating.</p>
<p>The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2-4 and from 6-8 p. m., or one hour prior to the service Thursday morning.</p>
<p>Interment will be in the Eel River Cemetery, Allen County.</p>
<p>For those who wish, memorials may be directed to Lake Chapel United Methodist Church.</em></p>

McCoy, 75, of Albion, passed away at 1:55 p. m. on Saturday, April 28, 2012, at Avalon Village in Ligonier following a lengthy illness.</p>
<p>Mr. McCoy was born on February 27, 1937 on the family farm southwest of Albion, a son of James Ralph and Freida L. (Gaerte) McCoy.  He spent his formative years in York Township and graduated from Albion-Jefferson High School in 1955.</p>
<p>He was engaged in dairy farming in York Township for much of his life, and had also worked at Monsanto and later at Maple Leaf Farms.  Following his retirement he wintered in Florida.  He was a member of the Noble County Gas &amp; Steam Engine Organization.</p>
<p>On April 17, 1970 he was married to Daisy M. Clouse.  She preceded him in death on June 7, 1998.</p>
<p>The surviving relatives include two brothers James R. (Linda) McCoy and John (Donna) McCoy, both of Albion; two sisters Janice M. Aungst of Dade City, Fla., and Mary Inlow (Ron) Poyser of Albion; his companion Flora VanStraaten of Albion; her children Tim Tillman of Albion and John (Sharon) Tillman of Mulberry, Fla; and her eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.  He also had numerous nieces and nephews.</p>
<p><em>Funeral services will be held at 1 p. m. on Tuesday, May 1, 2012, at the Sheets &amp; Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco with Rev. Mark E. Wood, pastor of Burr Oak Baptist Church, officiating.</em></p>
<p><em>The family will receive friends after 11 a. m. Tuesday at the funeral home until the hour of the service.</em></p>
<p><em>Interment will be in the Christian Chapel Cemetery, Merriam.</em></p>
<p><em>The family requests that memorials be directed to the Central Noble Food Pantry, Albion.</em></p>

<p>Mr. Brooks was born in North Judson on November 4, 1934, a son of Raymond and Clara (Katchke) Brooks.  He spent his formative years there, graduated from North Judson High School, and as a young man served with the U. S. Army.</p>
<p>He was employed as a cattleman for several farmers over the years, and had moved to Wolf Lake from Leiters Ford, Indiana in 1979.</p>
<p>He was married to Patricia Maciejack.  She preceded him in death in 1978.</p>
<p>The surviving relatives include six children Jason Brooks of Wolf Lake, Patrick (Peggy) Brooks of Fort Wayne, Herb Brooks of Lipan, Texas, Mark (Angela) Brooks of Lindsay, Nebraska, James (Carla) Brooks of Hope Mills, North Carolina, and Lora Ezekiel of Florence, Alabama; a sister Anna Paul of Montrey; 13 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.</p>
<p>In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his companion Helen Fulk; a brother Raymond Brooks; and by three sisters Myrtle Maciejack, Clara Mae Fort, and Edna Moe.</p>
<p><em>Memorial services will be held at 2 p. m. on Monday, April 30, 2012, at the Sheets &amp; Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco with Rev. Rick Van Horn, pastor of Christ Community Church, officiating.  Military honors will be conducted by the U. S. Army Funeral Detail and by Gilbert Davis American Legion Post 157.</em></p>
<p><em>The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday after 11 a. m. until the hour of the service.</em></p>
