Garree (Welch) Ternet: 1949 – 2007

ternet-garree.jpgGarree Elaine (Welch) Ternet, 58, a resident of Tri-Lakes and formerly of Churubusco, died at 5:20 p. m. Tuesday, December 18, 2007, at the family residence. She had been in declining health for over four years, and had been seriously ill for the past several months.

Mrs. Ternet was born on March 3, 1949 in Wolf Lake, a daughter of the late William Burrell and Jane Carroll (Litherland) Welch. She spent her formative years in Churubusco, and was educated in the Smith-Green Community Schools.

On June 14, 1965 she was married in Churubusco to Neal F. Ternet. The couple have lived at their present home at Tri-Lakes since 1979.

The surviving relatives include her husband Neal; her children Tammy (Jim) Ormsby of Churubusco and Tyrone Ternet of Columbia City; four sisters Beverly (Robert) Irving of Deltona, Fla., Brenda (Steve) Baumgartner of Bluffton, Linda K. Galligher of Kendallville, and Janel D. Welch of Churubusco; and her grandchildren Brittany Ormsby, Brock Ormsby, and Leah Ternet.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister Narda R. Strong on December 28, 2003.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a. m. Saturday, December 22, 2007, at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco with Rev. Paul D. White, pastor of Churubusco Church of the Nazarene, officiating.

The family will receive friends at the mortuary on on Friday from 1 to 3 and from 5 to 8 p. m., or one hour prior to the service Saturday morning.

Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Avilla.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the Humane Society of Whitley County, P. O. Box 245, Columbia City, IN 46725; or Visiting Nurse & Hospice, 5910 Homestead Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46814.

    Dear Neal We are so sorry to hear of Garree’s passing. I know that mere words don’t ease the the pain, but our thoughts and prayers are with you. And it’s good to know that God has a home prepared for us and we are pain-free and re-newed. God bless you and the family at this most sad time.
