Brad Myers

Brad L. Myers began a lifelong career in funeral service in 1966. He became a licensed embalmer and funeral director in 1970, and was engaged in the profession in Indianapolis, Fort Wayne, and Portland before joining the Sheets & Childs family in 2004. He is a former reserve deputy sheriff, and served as Jay County Coroner. He is a member of Churubusco United Methodist Church, Churubusco Lodge 515 F&AM, Churubusco Lions Club, and Churubusco American Legion Post 157. His wife Karen is a registered nurse and case manager with Visiting Nurse Service and Hospice Home in Fort Wayne, and they have three children and six “wonderful” grandchildren. Family’s can always rely on Brad’s vast professional knowledge with at-need and pre-need arrangements, as well as monuments.

HadeLarry L. Hade

Larry L. Hade is a native of Fort Seneca, Ohio, and is a graduate of Bowling Green State University, and the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science. He has spent all of his adult life in funeral service in this area, and although retired, he works on the part-time staff at Sheets & Childs. A cancer survivor, he is a member of Unity Christ Church. Larry has a God-given gift of compassion, and his life’s experiences have equipped him well in serving others in their time of need.

Roseann SmithRose Ann Smith

Rose Ann Smith is a native of the LaOtto-Huntertown area, and has been employed as an attendant at Sheets & Childs since 2006. Rose Ann has a love and special understanding of people, and brings her own special “soft touch” to everyone who comes through our doors. The wife of Pastor Larry Smith, she is a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, and enjoys her many church activities and homemaking. She and her husband have three children and eight grandchildren.

Eleanor Swinehart

Eleanor Swinehart

Eleanor Swinehart grew up in Fort Wayne, graduated from North Side High School, and has been an attendant with the Sheets & Childs family since 1994. She has lived all of her adult life in Churubusco, and has four children and six grandchildren, who are the light of her life. A member of Churubusco United Methodist Church, she is past president of its United Methodist Women, serves as a Bible study leader, and was a children’s leader for Bible Study Fellowship for many years. Eleanor’s dedication to the families who turn to Sheets & Childs and her warm and friendly manner are second to none.

Vic & Sally SpearVic & Sally Spear

Vic and Sally (Herron) Spear have lived all of their married lives in Churubusco. Both work as attendants at Sheets & Childs, and are active members of the Merriam Christian Chapel, where Vic serves as an elder. Vic has a special love for God’s outdoor creation, and enjoys hunting and fishing in his leisure time. Sally is a retired long-time employee of Smith-Green Community Schools, and enjoys church activities, crafts, and homemaking. They have three children and four grandchildren. Both Vic and Sally bring to Sheets & Childs a lifelong knowledge of the community, a warm sense of humor, and a love for and dedication to people during life’s most difficult times.

Joan WilsonJoan Wilson

Joan (Duncan) Wilson works in the funeral home office and assists as an attendant for funerals and visitations. A lifelong resident of Churubusco, she is a graduate of Churubusco High School and Ball State University. A busy parent of four, she is married to Albion native Randy Wilson, and has a background in business and tax preparation. She is a member of Churubusco United Methodist Church, and enjoys playing tennis and traveling in her leisure time.

Dawn LadigDawn Ladig

Dawn (Ayers) Ladig has been employed as an attendant with the Sheets & Childs family since 2000, and complements our staff with her keen sense of style and decorating, as well as her lifelong knowledge of the community and a genuine compassion for people in life’s darkest hour. Dawn has lived all of her life in the Churubusco-area, and graduated from Churubusco High School. An avid bicycle rider and traveler, she is a member of Churubusco United Methodist Church where she has served in several administrative capacities, and is the past director of the church’s popular Hanging of the Greens program. She and her husband Ed have three children and two “beautiful” grandchildren.
