Walter “Wally” Queitsch: 1987 - 2008
Walter “Wally” Queitsch, 20, a former resident of Green Township in Noble County and more recently of Columbia City, was found dead early Sunday, April 13, 2008, at his home, apparently of natural causes.
Born on September 17, 1987 in Columbia City, Wally was the son of Paul R. and Teri (Selvin) Queitsch, and spent all of his formative years in Green Township, north of Churubusco. He was educated in the Smith-Green Community Schools, and earned his GED from Whitley County. For nearly five years he had been employed at Wal Mart in Columbia City.
He had enjoyed working on cars, spending time with friends and co-workers, and had always had a love for helping his family and other people in any way he could.
The surviving relatives include his parents Paul R. and Teri Queitsch of Churubusco; two sisters April Lynea Queitsch and Lily Mae Queitsch, both at home; his paternal grandparents Max and Jean Queitsch of Louisville, Tenn; his step-grandmother Etta Selvin of Tamarac, Fla; uncles and aunts John and Terri Queitsch of Tennessee, Bill Queitsch of Irving, Texas, and Jeri and Peter Rank of Islip, New York; and several cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a. m. Friday, April 18, at the Charter Oak Community Church, 4899 South 300 East-57, Churubusco, with Pastor Aaron Peer, officiating.
The family will receive friends at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco on Thursday from 2-4 and from 6-8 p. m., or at the church one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be in the Riverview Cemetery, south of Churubusco.
The family requests that memorials be directed to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International, 120 Wall Street, New York, NY 10005-4001

Words seem inadequate to
express the sadness we feel.
We are thinking of you during this difficult time.
May the peace which comes from the memories of love shared,
comfort you now and in the days ahead.

Dear family:
I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I cannot even begin to imagine the sadness that you are experiencing. When our minister spoke on Heaven this past Sunday, he said that although we have titles for people who lose their spouse or their parents, there is no name for the person who loses a child in death. He surmised that it was because there is no word to describe the awfulness of it–it just is not the way things should be !! My heart broke with that observation and little did I know I would hear of you in that very situation. I too pray that, in time, the sadness will part enough for you to see and remember the pleasant memories and take comfort in those.

Teri and family,
My son, Christopher, was a classmate of Walter’s.
Our hearts broke when we heard. May you and your family find strength in your faith and the memories of Walter and the good times you shared. I can’t even pretend to understand your pain.
I always enjoyed talking with you when you came in the News office and I still have the Christmas coffee cup you gave me, Teri. You are a good-hearted, kind person and therefore, I know your children are, too.
God bless you.
